Two weeks before leaving Costa Rica, I spend one week working on a turtle project called Punta Judas. It's situated on Playa Hermosa on the Pacific side of Costa Rica. The place is famous for surfing and for the protection of turtles. During parts of the year, sea turtles choose this place to lay eggs there. The place is really nice: friendly people, volunteers from Canada,Belgium,Germany or Switzerland, nice food & rooms, even had a Tv with DVD.
The goal of the project is to release many baby turtles . Those little fellas have a lot of natural predators: birds, fish, sharks, crabs...but there is also unnatural predators like dogs or humans (1 eggs is like 1 dollars and there is 100 eggs in average in one nest, do the math...). On 100 eggs, only one tortugita in average will survive !!!! That's nada !! So that's why Costa Rica got some projects like Punta Judas.
